About Kannus
Since its inception in 1903, Kannus has been synonymous with value. Originating as T.M.K.R Pillay, the firm established itself in the Seychelles through general merchandising and imports. Over four generations, the family business flourished, with Kannusamy Pillay joining in 1957, infusing new energy into the venture.
The pivotal year of 1980 saw Kannusamy Pillay inaugurate the Kannus Shopping Centre on Benezet Street, Victoria. Specializing in textiles, garments, and electronics, it soon became the go-to shopping hub for locals. The business's evolution continued, with its registration as a Proprietary Limited Company in 1997.
Under Kannusamy Pillay's forward-thinking guidance, 1999 marked the group's expansion into the FMCG and electronics sectors. This growth spurt continued with the establishment of K.S. Enterprises in 2002, focusing on home needs and electronics, and the subsequent launch of several related ventures.
Kannus Supermarkets emerged in 2009, quickly becoming a staple for island residents. The group's diversification persisted with the start of Sun Electronics in 2012 and an entry into the real estate and construction market with Shapes Builders Pty Ltd in 2017.
Today, Kannus stands as a prominent entity in Seychelles, importing and retailing an array of products, from FMCG and FMCD goods to textiles, garments, and food & beverages. The company's commitment to quality, service, and value extends to its construction and real estate endeavors.
